Arrowkit nudged his brother out the hollow entrance, before him. Lilysong was going to let them go without telling on them! He had never felt so relieved. But the tabby kit stopped with one paw still in the den and one on the undergrowth. "Lilysong.." his tail twitched nervously. "I...I...I want to be your apprentice!" He blurted out, stumbling as he tried to lean on his crippled paw. "I can never be a warrior but I want to help my clan!" The young kit's eyes shown with determination. "I like to learn and I know most of the herbs and I will help you. I will do everything you want me to! But I..." he paused and sucked in a deep breath. "Starclan sometimes comes to me in my dreams too!"

Pinekit purred a soft thanks to Lilysong as she said she would let them go, though he wasn't in much of a purring mood after being caught. However, his dreams of being apprenticed on time were still there, and not crushed, so he was grateful. But he wasn't going to leave without his brother, so when Arrowkit stopped to beg Lilysong to be her apprentice, he waited. And, as per normal, he couldn't help but brag about something. He stepped up next to his brother, looking big compared to him.
It's true. All I hear about is 'this does this' and 'that does that' and 'Starclan say this' all day. It's all I can do to get him to be quiet about it.

Lilysong listened as Arrowkit nervously spoke his wishes. She had always expected him to want to walk the medicine cat path. He seemed so interested in what she did, and even if he didn't want to be one it was the only path that he could take that he would truly be accepted. When he came to the part about having dreams with Starclan, it only made her certain. It was a sign from her ancestors that he should be her apprentice, why else would they contact him.
"I know." For a moment that was all she said, although it only lasted a few seconds it seemed like forever. "I always thought you would join me in this path, but now it is certain, not just any cat can speak with Starclan. I will talk to Brightstar."

Arrowkit wanted to leap up and down in joy. He rushed forward as fast as he could with his crippled paw and licked Lilypaw's flank. "Thank you!" He mewed, excitedly. Suddenly, the realization that their mother did not know where they were came back to him. "C'mon Pinekit!" He rushed nervously, glancing out the den entrance for any sign of Scarletsnow. "We gotta get back to the nursery! Now!" With unusual leadership, the enthusiastic kit tried to push his brother out of the den. When they were out of Lilysong's earshot, he purred to his littermate, "Thank you for encouraging her to accept me Pinekit!"

Pinekit purred and bumped his brother's shoulder gently with his nose as they padded back to the nursery. He'd never admit it, but he liked the feeling of helping someone, especially his family.
No problem. I just hope the rest of this moon goes by fast. I can't wait to get to the apprentice den! So much more freedom! Can you imagine?
He fell quiet fast, though, as they neared the entrance. He flicked his tail around to cover his brother's mouth, then attempted to slip into the nursery as quietly as possible, in hopes that their mother wasn't awake.

((OOC: you can delete this if necessary but I thought I would just RP Scarletsnow for this post while no one else has adopted her)))
Scarletsnow was waiting for them. She said nothing but her eyes displayed a range of emotions. Mostly they were filled with anger and relief. "Where have you been?" She hissed. "I have half a mind to delay your apprentice ceremony until next moon! Brightstar won't mind, I'm sure!"
Arrowkit said nothing. He couldn't. He couldn't imagine delaying his ceremony, not when everything had gone so well with Lilysong. He trembled next to his brother and hoped Pinekit would know what to say. He usually did.

Arrowkit just wanted to go talk to Lilysong about becoming her apprentice. Since you weren't up, we didn't want to wake you, and so I went with him instead. It's not like we were sneaking out of camp.
Okay, that had been what he hoped as a next step, but they hadn't gone that far. She didn't need to know they had snuck out to look around the camp, not specifically to talk to Lilysong. But they had talked to Lilysong, at least, so they weren't lying. Just not telling the whole truth. Entirely different, especially to the mind of a kit determined not to get in trouble.

Scarletsnow looked at both of her kits carefully. "You did a bad thing and I was very worried," she began. "But Pinekit, you helped your brother and Arrowkit, you finally realized your dream. How can I condone this?"
Arrowkit sighed with relief.
"However," Scarletsnow continued sternly. "It was still wrong and punishment must be dealt. I will tell Brightstar what had happened today and perhaps she will tack a few extra days of caring for the elders on to your training. DO NOT MOVE." Scarletsnow commanded. She glared at both her kits but their was still affection in her eyes as she left them sitting in the nursery.
