Arrowkit stared at the walls surrounding him. He had been in them since birth but never felt as trapped as he did right now. His mother Scarletsnow and brother Pinekit lay sleeping nearby. Arrowkit could never drift away like they could. So much on his mind, so much on his heart. Why couldn't he be carefree like his family? Because you are different, the voices whispered in his ears. Sighing, the tiny tabby turned away from them. He knew they were Starclan; his mother had shared enough stories for him to comprehend that. That was why he wanted to be a medicine cat- so he could understand what they meant and what they wanted from him. Only a half moon more till his destiny would be revealed... Arrowkit finally drifted off to sleep.

Pinekit, finally opening his eyes, and stretched, while still laying on his side. He'd curled into a crescent moon to do so, front paws stretch up past his head. Then, he scrambled up, licking himself clean of moss as fast as he could. After all, he couldn't be seen that scruffy; He had a reputation to uphold! He glanced over at his sleeping mother and a mischevous smirk fell upon his face and he went over and poked a paw into his brother's side.
Arrowkit. Hey, Arrowkit. Wake up. Mom's asleep. What do you say we check out the camp a little? Maybe even just outside... She'd never let us do it on our own if we asked, but what she doesn't know won't hurt her.
His whispering was soft, but his muzzle was to his brother's ear, determined to at least let him hear. Of course, if the lazy piece of foxdung didn't get up soon, Pinekit would gladly leave without him. He was just trying to make up for getting a little out of hand in their last play fight. He was lucky his mother hadn't chose to tell Brightstar. That would've caused trouble.

There was a branch prodding his side. Arrowkit fidgeted away from it but it moved closer. He opened his eyes in frustration and realized it was only Pinekit. The whispers in his ear were also not the wind but his brother's voice. Arrowkit considered the options. If he left while his mother slept, he may get in big trouble. Maybe even delay his apprenticeship! Nothing was worth that... But if he went he would get to see the whole camp- instead of a few glimpses. And he would get to see the medicine cat den up close! As he scrambled to his paws, ignoring the maimed leg, he realized Pinekit owed him. "Ok," he whispered. "Let's go!"

Pinekit grinned and turned to quietly creep toward the nursery entrance. He peered cautiously around the corner, and then flicked his tail to signal Arrowkit to follow. He dashed across to the other side, and attempted to hide in the shadows, though it wasn't very successful. If anyone looked over, they would be easily seen. It didn't seem to bother the brown tabby any, though, as he continued to sneak around the perimeter, wide eyed and interested.
Anything you want to see?
He whispered back over his shoulder, as he paused to crouch low to the ground, as if he was sneaking up on someone.

Arrowkit snuck behind his brother, oblivious to the fact every cat could see them; if they were paying attention. Stealthly, the tiny tabby crouched along and whispered, "The Medicine Cat Den. But Pinekit, what if we get caught?"

OOC: Fine...
Arrowkit snuck behind his brother, oblivious to the fact every cat could see them; if they were paying attention. Anxiously, he glanced around to see if anycat's eyes had caught them- but so far they were safe. He was still nervous at the fact they were sneaking around behind Scarletsnow's back. What would she do if someone caught them? The kit knew their mother would never hesitate to ask to postpone their apprenticeship. As he creeped along stealthly in his littermate's shadow, the tiny tabby whispered, "The Medicine Cat Den. But Pinekit, what if we get caught?"

Pinekit glanced furtively around before dashing across to the brush just outside the medicine cat's den, before replying to his brother's worry.
Simple. We just don't get caught, and then we don't have to worry about it. We'll take a quick look in here for you, and we'll be back before she wakes up...
He didn't even think about listening for Lilysong, who might be inside, before ducking into the shadows and out of sight of the clearing. He almost choked on the scent of the herbs at first, since he wasn't used to it, but managed to do so silently.

Arrowkit naturally followed Pinekit; they had established his leadership since they were young. Mostly it was because Pinekit was so much bigger than his brother. However, Arrowkit's anxiety didn't subside despite Pinekit's confidence. Unlike his littermate, Arrowkit breathed in the scent of herbs like the fragrance of a plump piece of prey. He didn't check for Lilysong or any other cat. He didn't care about anything when he was inside this den. It was like...he finally felt like he belonged. Despite his limp leg, despite his rogue blood- he could finally be accepted. Remembering Pinekit suddenly, Arrowkit turned to him. "Do you want to go somewhere?"

Lilysong woke from her sleep because she could sense someone in her den. Over the years she had been woken up many times for her duty and it didn't take long for her body to wake up when others entered for an emergency. In the moment before she got up she grasped the scene around. The smell of cat or cats was not sick, wounded or even old. With a closer sniff she could tell that the scent of cats in her den was young, very young. Then she listened to what they were saying and realized that it was the two soon to be apprentices. But what did they want, was there mother sick? Did they even have permission to be here?
From the tone of voice that Arrowkit spoke in she could tell that the kit was nervous and worried, most likely because he was worried about being caught for being outside the nursery she reasoned. When she made that conclusion she knew that no one needed her and these kits did not have permission to be here.
She considered waiting to see if they were going to be bad, but realized that they were probably going to go soon. Since she did not want to be held responsible for letting these cats get away unpunished she stood up.
"Do you want to get in trouble," she spoke. "And don't even try telling me that you have permission being here, I know you don't." She knew she sounded harsh, but sometimes you have to be she rationalized.

Pinekit jumped and turned around, ears flattened. He crouched down a bit, scared, and backed up a step. If he hadn't been so prideful, he probably would have squeaked in fear as well, but he wasn't going to let that happen.
We just wanted to look around the camp! Mom never lets us out. We'll go back right now, just don't tell her. Please?
His eyes were wide as it sunk in that his apprenticeship might end up postponed if his mother found out. He'd always really known that would happen, but he'd never really let himself dwell on it long enough to change his mind about leaving the nursery.

Arrowkit felt Pinekit's fur flatten as it pressed against him. He didn't turn around, his mind was too transfixed on the herbs that lined the shelves in front of him. Deep within his mind he heard a faint voice that sounded suspiciously like Lilysong. Irritated that it was interrupting his pleasure, he turned around...and came face to face with the medicine cat. The tiny tabby crouched down; unsure of what was about to happen. "Please don't tell Scarletsnow or..." he glanced over at his brother, terror rolling off him like waves. "Don't tell on Pinekit. It was my idea...I just wanted to see the herbs." His mew grew quieter as he confessed.

As Lilysong stared at the two young kits she felt her anger disappear. It was so hard to be angry with them when they were so scared for their future. They thought that she would tell on them, they probably thought that she would get their apprenticeship post-poned. What they didn't know was that she wasn't that cruel, she had no plans to rat them out as long as they went back to the nursery, which she believed they would. She could understand their curiosity, not being allowed out of the nursery a lot because they were kits, she sympathized.
"I won't tell on you if you promise to go straight back to the nursery and don't try this stunt again. I know young cats like yourself are often curios and i don't think you should be punished for that. Although I'm promising to tell no one, it would be in your best interest to tell your mother before she some how finds out from someone else who may have saw you sneak over here."
