FALCONSTAR when there``s no one else look inside yourself like your oldest friend just trust the voice within
Falconstar's eyes didn't drop, even though it would have been perfectly understandable if they did. However, she did take a moment to keep herself composed.
You must promise not to tell anyone, Sparrowflight.
She didn't wait for her deputy's agreement, though. She knew if her secret was safe with anyone, it would be her deputy, or any of the other three leaders. The only one who wouldn't ever use it against her, of course, was the cat in her own clan, or so she hoped.
It was a mistake, so long ago. I was deputy at the time, and, Starclan forbid, I fell in love. Things went too far too fast, and a few moons later I noticed something and decided to travel with Wiseheart for awhile. Or, so I said. I did stay with her, but it wasn't just to take a breather. I was pregnant with the three of them. I couldn't say they were mine, and father didn't know, and I had nowhere else to take them. I wasn't going to become a murderer of kits just to save face, so I said I found them. It was only a matter of time before someone noticed something.

Sparrowflight stared at Falconstar in shock. Her muscles couldn't seem to move, her mind couldn't wrap around this news. "You...you have kits!? In our clan!? Falconstar, you are my leader and I respect you so much. And if I was in your position I might have done the same thing. But I would never, never, mentor them. I couldn't handle it. Watching them grow, never being able to tell them I cared for them more than any cat ever has and ever will? How are you going to do this? How...how can I help you?" She faltered slightly, ashamed she felt such resentment towards Falconstar. The leader didn't deserve that with such pain she must be dealing with. Knowing no words could be said, the deputy quietly padded next to Falconstar and pressed her pelt against the leader's side in silent acceptance.

I don't know how. All I know is that I couldn't stand it if I didn't help them either.
Falconstar murmured quietly, gladly accepting the comfort of the other cat's pelt against her own. She sighed, worried about what could happen doing what she was doing, bringing herself into their lives more than needed. She couldn't help it, though. She couldn't just turn her back on her own kin.
It may get to be too much. I don't know yet. But if it does... Promise me you'll take on Songpaw. She deserves the best mentor she can have, if she can't have her own mother.

"It's not that I don't think she deserves you, I just..." Sparrowflight trailed off and let the excuses slide. They weren't what was needed right now. "I promise." She mewed decisively. She would never let her leader down. Not in battle, and not when Falconstar needed her support the most. Sparrowflight brushed her tail on Falconstar's pelt once and padded toward the den entrance. "I should organize a hunting patrol, I think. The nursery needs some fresh-kill. Will you be all right Falconstar?" The concern for her leader was deep. Sparrowflight was really worried and it showed.

Go. I'll be fine. If you want, you can take Songpaw with you. It will do her good to see the territory, and I've got some things I've got to do. Can't have her sitting around the camp all day, though I doubt she'll be the one to cause any trouble.
She replied quietly, touching her tailtip to Sparrowflight's shoulder as an indication of thanks. She hadn't really realized how much she needed to talk about it, not until she had been cornered and questioned. Needless to say, she wouldn't tell just anyone as easily as she had told her deputy, but that was beside the point.

Sparrowflight dipped her head respectively. At the touch of Falconstar's tail, she suddenly realized how hard this had been for her leader and how close they really were. It had always been hard for Sparrowflight to grow close to other cats and had never really found someone to call a friend. That was what they truly were; their relationship went beyond leader and deputy. The she-cat padded slowly out of the den. Though the sunlight blinded her momentarily, she was still smiling. Falconstar would make it through this and the deputy now had opened her heart to two cats.
