Standing by the camp entrance Petalstar waited for Foampaw to arrive. The night before she had warned the she cat to wake early for their morning training session. It wasn't really a training session, but she wasn't going to show her the borders, as part of her apprenticeship. She hadn't been waiting long, but already she was getting impatient. She wonder if it was best to teach the young cat herself or not. She had so many other worries and now she had this one too, but she didn't quite trust Foampaw to Carmeltail. She was a nice cat and Foampaw seemed to like her, but she didn't think the she cat would be the best mentor for her. And besides her she had few others to choose from.

Foampaw woke with a start, jolting in her nest and glancing around with wide, blue eyes. She had forgotten something, she knew it, and she quickly searched her mind for what it had been. Of course! Petalstar was going to show her borders, something she'd been waiting moons for. She looked disdainfully at her messy, slept-on pelt, shook off as much moss as she could, and darted out of the apprentice den and toward the camp entrance. She could already tell that Petalstar didn't seem impressed. Guilt, embarassment, shame, momentarily flooded her mind as she tried to come up with words to explain.
"So sorry, Petalstar, I knew I was supposed to be up earlier than this, but I slept longer than I expected, and usually I can wake myself up in time..." Her babbling trailed off into silence as she stared at the leader of her Clan. "We should go," She mewed quietly, waiting for her mentor to lead the way out of camp. A guilty thought nagged at the back of her consciousness.
Maybe if you hadn't been up watching the sunset and chatting with your Clanmates you would've been up on time...

o.o.c. sorry this is going to be short, but I'm really tired, it's like almost one in the morning so yeah. Also this thread is going to be short, so if you like you can start the border patrol in the forest is you like or I can too, up to you.
Petalstar was jolted from her memories when Foampaw stood in front of her. It didn't take her long to realize where she was and what she was doing. When she saw the cat she wasn't impressed, her first day and she was late. Quietly she let the young apprentice explain herself and in the time it took her to speak for herself most of her disappointment had gone. She could tell the young cat was embarrassed and disappointed with herself, and that was punishment enough, the guilt. At the end of her explanations she nodded her head and began to walk outside the camp entrance. If they wanted to finish before sun high they should get going.
"Let's go." she meowed as she looked over her shoulder at the young cat.
