Deadstar rose from his crouching position and looked directly into Cadell's eyes.
Perhaps this was a warning. Maybe Icerose shouldn't be your apprentice.
His tail waved back and forth as he gazed into the eyes of the assassin, seeing the façade he wore. Silently, the leader wondered why Cadell would tell him he'd seen an ancestor of theirs. If he had seen him, why would Scourge show himself to Cadell? Why not to him, Deadstar, their leader? Was Scourge planning something from his afterlife? If this was all true, Deadstar knew he must watch himself; he must prepare himself for the inevitable that was approaching.

I don't know. Perhaps you should visit the Starpeak and ask our ancestors.
He hated having to say it, for he knew that Bloodclan wouldn't likely lie to Deadstar and his own plan would be shot down, but it would give him a chance to think about how to fix this mess that Scourge had created for him. It was no doubt purposefully done. The ancient figure probably hoped to gain him back on the side of Iceclan and Bloodclan, and draw him away from the Stars and his true calling. Sometimes he thought it would be easier.
But with the temptation of being a hero, and not letting down those who looked to him for help--for he had joined Iceclan because it seemed he could help them, and he lived to help others--was much too strong. And his clan no longer needed his help. The other clans did. He would not be won back over, despite the doubt and the hardship it caused.

With a flick of his tail, Deadstar stood at his highest and looked down at Cadell.
I will not be visiting the Starpeak. We will assume it is nothing and continue with what was originally planned.
Deadstar doubted that the assassin had seen Scourge, and that perhaps he was just trying to get him to go to the Starpeak to be ambushed.
Swishing his tail, he signaled for Cadell to follow as he turned toward the camp.
Find Icerose, Cadell, and tell her that I will speak with her in my den. You are to be present there as well, and do not tell her what we have decided.

As you wish, Deadstar.
He dipped his head, then, presuming that would be all until they met in the leader's den, he spun and turned to take the jog to find Icerose. He wasn't entirely sure where she was, actually, but he'd find her eventually. He was a decent tracker, after all, and so it shouldn't actually take him very long. Unless, of course, she was very far away. She might be. He wasn't one to know. Though he supposed he could ask Battlecry, who was still following him. Protecting him from Scourge, maybe? Too many questions, not enough answers.
