Salena padded into the main camp area of a clan. She knew it was one because she had seen many of them. She wasn't sure witch clan it was because there were a couple she hadn't been to. She knew it wasn't Seaclan, Iceclan, or Skyclan because those were the ones she had gone to. 'Is this Stormclan or Shadeclan?' Salena asked herself. "Hello?" she called out. "Is anyone there?" The other clans she had been to had something that was horrible there. All of them exept for Seaclan. The one clan she really wanted to join was perfect in every way. She got so nervous that she ran without talking to any one. Salena Looked at all of the places and suddenly realized that this place was better than Seaclan. She wasn't nervous and everything was nice. 'Please,' she thought, 'let this be the place for me to call home at last.' 24 and a half moons of long wandering. Her parents were killed when she was only 2 weeks old. She was tired of wandering. She wanted a new home.

Nightstorm looked up from his mangled, half-eaten vole to see a she-cat walk into the clearing. He swallowed the mouthful of meat and felt his thick, black fur already starting to bristle. This was not a member of ShadeClan. Suspicion instantly clouded his eyes and he got up from the shady corner of camp he'd been lounging in, walking up to her and leaving a few tail-lengths of space between them. His piercing yellow eyes narrowed.
"What do you think you're doing, walking right into the middle of our camp?" he demanded, trying hard not to hiss. It must've taken her some guts to do that, or maybe she just didn't think about how dangerous it was to be in the middle of a Clan's camp.
He knew she wasn't from another Clan, although the scents of there others lingered on her pelt. They weren't strong enough, and he'd never heard of her before, anyway. He glanced around the clearing, looking for Moonstar so she could deal with it herself.

"Relax Nightstorm," a soft voice purred, "She means us no harm." As the last sentence was spoken, a snow-white she-cat appeared from the shadows, her mismatched eyes glittering with the knowledge of the past and the stars. This was Moonstar, the leader of old and leader of the present, of ShadeClan. "Welcome to ShadeClan, little one," the cat smiled, but in a firmer tone added, "Stand down, Nightstorm." Walking a little closer to the pair, Moonstar's pelt glistened in the sunlight as though the snow had come to life. "I am Moonstar, leader of this clan," she continued, "Who might you be, wandering the forests alone?"

Salena spoke up, "I am Salena. I was left alone when I was only two weeks old. My parents had been killed and I didn't know what pack I was in or if I was even in one. I learned to live on my own, but I desperately wanted a new home. I have wandered around seeking a place to call home but all of the places I have been I found I didn't belong for one reason or another. Moonstar, leader of Shadeclan, I ask you humbly if I may stay and live here in Shadeclan." Salena's eyes sparked with longing as she spoke.

His leader's familiar, commanding mew rang through the air, and Nightstorm partially unwillingly backed up and sat down. He kept his yellow eyes fixed on the loner, his nostril's flaring as he listened to her story. He waited quietly for his leader's answer, the tip of his tail twitching anxiously. Would she let a loner join ShadeClan? As he pondered the idea, he thought that maybe he wouldn't mind her as long as she was able to prove herself to the Clan. If she could fight and hunt, why shouldn't she?
He began arguing with himself inside his head. She didn't belong. Maybe she would. She was a crazy loner. Maybe they're not all like that. She probably couldn't fight a kit. How would you know?
He stopped the conflicting thoughts rushing through his mind, and forced himself to concentrate on what was going on in front of him. Anyways, it would matter, because Moonstar was leader, and what was he but another warrior, loyal to his leader's word. He waited for Moonstar's reaction.

Moonstar smiled lightly, but her eye betrayed her own conflicting thoughts. What do you think? the cat asked her celestial self, Should she stay or should I send her on her merry way? You should know what I think, little one, came the amused chuckle of the elder cat, You know as well as I do that kits are the future. The white cat unconsciously nodded her head in response and then looked to Salena. "I welcome you to ShadeClan, Salena," she purred softly, "But know this, life in a clan is harder than being a loner. Your first duty is to the clan."

Nightstorm's ear twitched. So the loner was joining? He glanced around, wondering if anyone else was listening. He pondered the Clan's reactions, a thrill of humor running through him as he imagined what some of the less accepting cats would say.
He swiftly stood back up and padded back to his fresh-kill, then laid down beside it so he could still see the loner and his leader. He kept his ears pricked, and slowly picked at the food he had left.
Would the she-cat keep her name? The thought flashed so suddenly in his mind, and curiosity began eating away at him. He considered asking Moonstar, but decided he would wait.

Salena smiled as she said, "Thank you Moonstar and I understand that my duty is to the clan, but I feel much more comfortable knowing that I have people that will help me if it is needed. Maybe being in a clan will be like finally having a family." Salena sat down in front of Moonstar. "Will I have to change my name to have a certain statice in the clan. What will my statice be?" Salena asked. She stoped and apologized "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to talk so much." She laid down causally and waited for a response to her questions.

A slight chuckle made itself known as Moonstar listened to Salena. "Your name will change, of course," she commented, "And your status will be an apprentice, for you need to learn our ways." Shaking her head, the snow white cat turned to her clanmate and smiled. "Nightstorm," Moonstar purred, "Are you up for an apprentice?" Please let him be, the cat added on in her head. It was a trying time. The clan was small and IceClan was gaining power. It was only a matter of time before the killing raids started again. Both Moonstars had heard the rumors and agreed that the leaders of the four clans needed to gather and discuss what they were going to do about the problem.

"What will my new name be?" Salena asked Moonstar politely. She waited for Nightstorm to answer Moonstar's question. She sat down and scratched her ear with her hind leg. After that she gave her self a bath and stretched. Salena walked off to find a nice pach of sun to take a short nap in untill she was needed again. She found the perfect spot with soft, bright green grass and curled up in a comfortable position for sleeping. Soon after that she fell asleep still wondering what Nightstorm's answer was, is or will be when he gives it.

Phantomglow entered the space where Moonstar, Nightstorm, and a strange cat sat. "Hello, Moonstar." she meowed, dipping her head to her leader. "Who is the strange cat that is sitting here with you." Phantomglow sat down next to her leader, waiting for her reply. "What I came to ask you for is this: Could you send a cat with me to collect herbs? We're very low in stock of many herbs, and I need to collect more than I can carry." Phantomglow thought in her head what she didn't say aloud: Also, I can't see where I'm going, and this territory is quite unfamiliar. She inwardly cursed her handicap. Phantomglow despised her brother for doing that to her, and she wanted to rip his throat out and feed him to vultures. It made her virtually unable to do anything of use except sort herbs and heal her Clanmates. Not that that wasn't satisfying, but she couldn't even collect herbs without the help of another cat. If only I had an apprentice. Maybe then I'd feel more useful. I hate having to take warriors away from their duties to help me do mine. I bet that strange cat even knows more of the territory than I do!

Salena opened her eyes when she heard this and jumped up. She scrambled over to the other cats and said, "I could go with you if Moonstar says it's O. K." Then she looked up at Moonstar waiting for her to say she could go or could not go. Then she looked back at the new cat that she did not know yet. "I am Salena. Who are you?" she asked. She sat down lazily waiting for that answer as well as the other one she has asked Moonstar. She looked over at Nightstorm who was suppose to answer Moonstar's question.

Phantomglow turned her head to face the new cat. "That sounds okay. Nice to meet you, Salena. My name is Phantomglow, and I am the medicine cat of this Clan. Also, as you may have noticed, I am blind." Phantomglow's soft voice turned hard and bitter at the end. "Please, don't ask me to tell that story, either." I wish being blind didn't hinder me. Also, searching for herbs with a cat that knows none of them? Even worse. I hope she isn't one of those cats that insists on talking the whole time. I hope that I get an apprentice soon. "Moonstar, is that okay?" Phantomglow hoped her leader would say no. She'd rather take Nightstorm or another warrior like Twilightheart than the new cat.

[ ooc; So so so so sorry I didn't reply until now. I never saw this threadd, should've checked it ]
Hearing his name again, the black tom's ears pricked, and he swung his gaze to his leader and the strange cat. Great, now he was supposed to be her mentor. He resiste the urge to roll his eyes, and instead put on a blank mask, nodding his head. "Sure," he meowed, turning to look over the loner - now his Clanmate and apprentice, and hoped to StarClan she wasn't as ditzy as a kittypet. All of his training and techniques came flooding back to him as he planned quickly in his head what to start her with.
As the medicine cat entered their small group, Nightstorm relaxed a little as the chance to get out of camp was thrown out to anyone. As Salena volunteered, the tip of his tail unnoticeably twitched in irritation. This loner couldn't just walk into camp and expect to go on a trip with the medicine cat when she didn't know anything about herbs (as far as he knew) or the territory, and the medicine cat was blind. "I can go if you want. Salena, you don't know the territory yet, so it would be better if you waited until you were very familiar with our borders and such. That is, of course, unless you really insist she come with you?" he asked the medicine cat.

Thank goodness! Nightstorm had saved her from the torture of taking a loner with no herb knowledge to gather herbs. "It'd be great if you would come with me, Nightstorm. Sorry Salena, maybe some other time. You need to stay here and get aquainted with the camp. Besides, you don't know the herbs, and technically, I cant' show you the herbs, since I can't see them." Phantomglow said. Thank you, StarClan, for letting Nightstorm volunteer to go with me. It would have taken most of the day if I had taken Salena. Phantomglow stood up and stretched. she waited for Moonstar to say who could go with her.
